Communications Technicians – Radio | FMS | Networking
Bowen Basin | 7/7 Days | ongoing contract

We are seeking experienced Communications Technicians to join a leading mining operation in the Bowen Basin. Multiple opportunities are available across the following specialisations or a mixture of:

  • Radio Systems (DRS / Motorola P25)
  • Fleet Management Systems (FMS) (Caterpillar MineStar)
  • Industrial Networking & Wireless Infrastructure (Breadcrumb rajent, cambium etc)

These roles are critical to maintaining mine-wide communications, autonomous fleet connectivity, and operational technology networks that support safe and efficient daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and fault-find industrial wireless, Wi-Fi, microwave, and network infrastructure.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance across radio, FMS, and mine communications systems.
  • Support communications and network systems on fixed plant, heavy mobile equipment, and light vehicles.
  • Respond to breakdowns and system faults to minimise downtime.
  • Interpret and apply technical data from OEM manuals, bulletins, and digital platforms.
  • Maintain accurate service records and work closely with site teams to ensure reliability, safety, and SHMS compliance.

Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience as a Communications, Radio, FMS, or Network Technician within mining or heavy industry.
  • Exposure to Motorola P25 / DRS, Rajant Breadcrumb, Ubiquiti, Cisco, or Cambium systems.
  • Experience supporting Fleet Management Systems (FMS), including Caterpillar MineStar, highly regarded.
  • Understanding of collision avoidance, fatigue monitoring, autonomous haulage, and machine connectivity.
  • Strong fault-finding, diagnostics, and documentation skills with a safety-first mindset.
