Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Safety Advisor to provide hands‑on support across a major infrastructure program in Brisbane. You will play a key role ensuring safe delivery of complex civil, structural and rail‑integration works across multiple CBD and inner‑city precincts. This is a 3 – 6 month contract.
This role is ideal for a safety professional who thrives in fast‑paced environments, enjoys being out in the field, and has experience with high‑risk construction activities such as tunnelling, heavy lifting, confined spaces and commissioning interfaces.
What you’ll do:
- Lead daily onsite safety engagement across site, audits and surface precincts
- Review and verify SWMS/JHAs, hazardous substance assessments
- Conduct site inspections, audits and permit-to-work checks (confined space, isolations, hot works)
- Monitor compliance with project safety requirements and relevant legislation
- Promote near-miss reporting, analyse trends and drive proactive hazard identification
- Assist with incident investigations and regulatory reporting
- Support testing & commissioning safety readiness and rail system access requirements
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, subcontractors and workforce representatives
What we’re looking for:
- Experience as a Safety Advisor in civil infrastructure, tunnelling, rail or major construction
- Strong understanding of high‑risk construction activities and control methodologies
- Ability to engage confidently with crews and lead safety discussions in the field
- Knowledge of occupational hygiene practices
- Experience with incident investigation methodologies (ICAM or similar)
- Familiarity with permit systems and auditing processes
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships
- A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset
