Alchemy Recruitment Consulting is partnering with a well-established mining operation on Australia’s east coast to recruit an experienced HR Manager for a 3–6 month temporary contract. This role will operate on a Fly-in Fly-out (FIFO) roster from Brisbane, QLD and is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on HR leader who enjoys bringing structure, rhythm, and operational discipline to a site-based HR function.
This assignment will see you step into a key leadership role supporting a busy mining operation while guiding a small on-site HR team. The immediate priority is to help the team establish clear HR rhythms, routines, and governance while continuing to support day-to-day operational HR activity across the site.
The Role
Reporting to senior operational leadership, you will oversee the site HR function while remaining actively involved in daily HR operations. You will support the team in building consistent weekly, monthly, and quarterly HR processes, helping create a sustainable cadence that supports both compliance and operational effectiveness.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and mentoring a small site-based HR team
- Providing hands-on operational HR support across the mine site
- Establishing clear HR cadences, rhythms, and reporting routines
- Reviewing and improving HR processes, documentation, and governance
- Supporting employee and industrial relations matters where required
- Partnering with site leadership to ensure HR initiatives align with operational needs
- Helping the team tidy up systems, workflows, and priorities to improve efficiency
- Ensuring compliance with relevant employment legislation, policies, and procedures
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced site-based HR leader who is comfortable stepping into an operational environment and quickly bringing structure and clarity to HR processes.
You will bring:
- Demonstrated HR leadership experience within mining, resources, or heavy industry
- Previous experience working in FIFO or remote site environments
- Strong generalist HR capability, including ER/IR exposure
- A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to support day-to-day HR operations
- Experience establishing structured HR reporting, routines, and governance
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with operational leaders
- The ability to quickly assess, organise, and improve HR workflows
