About the Role
Alchemy Recruitment have partnered with a growing business and are hiring an experienced Estimator to join pre-contracts team. Reporting to the Precontracts manager, you will work closely with project management, procurement, and operations teams to develop winning bids, identify risks and opportunities, and ensure projects are set up for commercial success from the outset.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and interpret tender documents, specifications, and RFQs
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, including labour, plant, materials, and overheads
- Conduct quantity take-offs and develop bills of quantities
- Coordinate supplier and subcontractor pricing and enquiries
- Lead and contribute to tender submissions and bid strategies
- Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering solutions
- Develop methodologies, staging plans, and traffic management approaches
- Engage with clients and stakeholders during the tender phase
- Maintain accurate estimating records and documentation
- Support and mentor junior estimators and contribute to team capability
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience as an Estimator in civil construction (pipelines, subdivisions, infrastructure preferred)
- Strong understanding of tendering processes and cost planning
- Experience with estimating software (e.g. Expert Estimation or similar)
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Strong commercial acumen and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and meet deadlines
