About the Role
Alchemy Recruitment are seeking a motivated and solutions-focused Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team. In this role, you’ll support tender and project delivery teams by developing practical, safe, and innovative engineering solutions across marine and civil construction projects. You will play a key role in shaping construction methodologies, temporary works, lift planning, and barge arrangements—ensuring designs are not only technically sound, but also highly constructible.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be involved across the full project lifecycle, including:
- Develop construction methodologies, sequencing, and cranage requirements
- Produce temporary works design concepts and coordinate permanent works with external consultants
- Deliver high-quality engineering documentation and drawings
- Identify site constraints, risks, and high-risk activities
- Provide oversight to ensure designs and methodologies are implemented correctly onsite
- Coordinate barge strength and stability assessments with naval architects
- Prepare detailed lift plans aligned with methodology and sequencing
- Contribute to risk identification and mitigation strategies
Skills and experience
You’re a proactive engineer who enjoys solving complex challenges and collaborating with diverse teams.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Civil, Structural, or Ocean Engineering
- Experience in construction or infrastructure projects
- Exposure to temporary works, marine, or heavy lift projects (highly regarded)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Experience with AutoCAD and structural analysis
- High attention to detail and sound decision-making ability
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
