Communications Technician

Full Job Description

Alchemy Recruitment is currently partnering with a leading mining company seeking an experienced Radio Technician to join their site-based team in the Bowen Basin, Queensland.

About the Role

As the Radio Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of the site’s Motorola P25 radio communications network, supporting safe and efficient mining operations.

Key Responsibilities

Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on Motorola P25 radio systems.
Diagnose and repair faults across fixed, mobile and portable radio equipment.
Install, configure and commission Motorola P25 communications equipment.
Maintain communications systems across heavy mining equipment, light vehicles and site infrastructure.
Respond to radio communication faults and breakdowns.
Conduct routine inspections, testing and system performance checks.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and technical documentation.
Work closely with operations and maintenance teams to minimise equipment downtime.
Follow site safety procedures and OEM standards.

Skills & Experience

Demonstrated experience maintaining Motorola P25 radio systems.
Experience with fixed, mobile and portable two-way radio communications.
Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
Mining, heavy industrial or telecommunications experience is highly regarded.
Relevant trade qualification or telecommunications/electronics qualification.
Current Australian Driver’s Licence.
Ability to work a 7/7 day-shift roster.
