Project Engineer

Project Engineer – Water Infrastructure | Adelaide

We’re seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support the early-stage development of a major resources project in South Australia.

This is an initial 3-month contract working closely with the Principal Engineer and broader project team, helping progress engineering packages through the early phases of project definition and development.

The Role

This is an early-stage project engineering position, rather than a construction-focused role. You’ll be involved in developing scope, coordinating engineering activities and ensuring packages are sufficiently defined to progress into later project phases.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Support the Principal Engineer across early project development activities
  • Develop and refine scopes of work, technical requirements and engineering deliverables
  • Coordinate engineering across internal disciplines, consultants and vendors
  • Support option studies, design reviews and technical evaluations
  • Manage interfaces and identify scope gaps between engineering packages
  • Coordinate vendor/package engineering and technical queries
  • Review drawings, specifications, calculations and vendor documentation
  • Support cost, schedule, risk and constructability discussions
  • Track engineering actions and deliverables through to closeout
  • Ensure engineering work aligns with project standards and governance requirements

Project Scope

The role will have a strong water infrastructure focus, including:

  • Pipelines and piping systems
  • Pumps and pumping infrastructure
  • Water treatment systems
  • Vendor equipment/packages
  • Dams and associated infrastructure
  • Mechanical, Civil and/or E&I interfaces

About You

  • Approximately 5–10 years’ project engineering experience
  • Previous Project Engineer or Package Engineer experience
  • Water infrastructure project experience
  • Experience across study, concept, definition or early engineering phases
  • Ability to develop and manage engineering scopes and packages
  • Strong multidisciplinary and vendor coordination skills
  • Mechanical, Civil or E&I engineering background
  • Mining, resources or major-project experience highly regarded
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

Location & Contract

  • Adelaide based – approximately 95% office-based
  • Occasional site travel as required
  • Initial 3-month contract
  • Adelaide-based candidates preferred, although candidates able to travel into Adelaide and work from the office each week may also be considered

This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Engineer who enjoys the front-end of major projects, working closely with senior engineering stakeholders to develop and define packages ahead of execution.
