Communications Technician – Mining
Central Queensland | DIDO / FIFO Options | Long-Term Contract
We’re looking for an experienced Communications Technician to join a large mining operation in Central Queensland.
The role will initially operate on a day-shift roster, supporting site communications, wireless networks and fleet management technology across a large mobile equipment fleet. There may be a requirement to move onto day/night coverage in the future, so flexibility is preferred.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for maintaining and supporting a range of operational technology across site, including:
- Radio communications systems
- Motorola / P25 systems
- Cisco wireless networks
- LTE communications
- Fleet management systems including Modular
- Wireless equipment across mobile mining fleet
- Terrain and associated mining technology
- Fault finding, inspections, repairs and preventative maintenance
- Supporting upgrades and installation work
You don’t need experience across every system. We’re looking for someone with a strong communications or wireless background who is willing to learn, take ownership and broaden their technical capability.
About You
Ideally, you’ll bring:
- Mining or heavy industrial communications experience
- Radio, wireless or telecommunications background
- Exposure to Motorola, P25, Cisco, LTE or similar systems
- Fleet management / Modular experience highly regarded
- Strong fault-finding skills and quality workmanship
- Willingness to learn new systems and technologies
- Flexibility to work days/nights if required
