Alchemy Recruitment is partnering with a state government client to support them in recruiting for an Assistant Materials Officer based in East Toowoomba, QLD.

This is a 6-month contract (with extension potential), with an immediate start.

About the role:

• Undertake basic materials classification and compliance testing, and assist practitioners with specialist tests
• Support sampling, equipment checking, calibration, investigations and instrumentation
• Complete significant calculation work using manual and software-based tools
• Work both indoor and outdoor, including physically demanding tasks (lifting up to 25kg, shovelling, uneven terrain)
• Occasional isolated locations with limited mobile coverage for up to 5 days — all travel costs covered

Preferred Requirements:

• Current Class C driver’s licence
• Sound numeracy skills, comfortable with software-based calculation tools
• Physically able to perform manual handling, lifting and extended standing/walking
• Comfortable with regional travel and time away from home base

Preferred Qualifications:

• No formal qualifications mandatory, but prior materials, geotech, civil lab or technical testing experience highly regarded
