Business Improvement Specialist

Senior Business Improvement Specialist (Data & Productivity Focus)
6-Month Fixed-Term Contract | FIFO 8/6 Roster

About the Role
We’re seeking a Senior Business Improvement Specialist to join a mining operation in NSW, on a 6-month contract. Reporting to the Business Improvement Manager, you’ll play a key role in driving a site-wide Productivity Improvement Program — with a strong emphasis on data analysis to underpin value, benefit, productivity, and cost initiatives.

This is a hands-on role for someone who’s as comfortable digging into data and building the analytical case for improvement opportunities as they are coaching leaders and facilitating change on the ground.

Roster & Benefits

  • 8 days on / 6 days off FIFO roster
  • Accommodation and meals provided
  • 6-month contract engagement

Key Responsibilities

  • Support delivery of the site’s FY Productivity Improvement Program, including governance, execution discipline, and value definition/realisation
  • Analyse operational, cost, and productivity data to identify improvement opportunities, quantify benefits, and track realisation against targets
  • Establish and maintain governance, cadence, and reporting for the Productivity Improvement Program, underpinned by robust data and reporting
  • Identify, escalate, and support mitigation of risks to value delivery and gaps in execution
  • Coach leaders to improve the quality of initiative scope, planning assumptions, and benefit tracking
  • Implement and deliver coaching around Management Operating System (MOS) in consultation with senior stakeholders
  • Prioritise effort and resources based on business value, productivity impact, and risk — supported by data analysis

About You
Essential:

  • Extensive experience in business improvement within mining, manufacturing, or heavy industry
  • Strong data analysis skills, with the ability to translate data into clear insights that support value, productivity, and cost initiatives
  • Demonstrated workshop facilitation capability
  • Confident interpersonal style with experience collaborating across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance (valid within the last 3 months) for site access
  • Current unencumbered Australian ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (particularly Excel for data analysis)

Desirable:

  • Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Black Belt or higher) or similar Business Improvement certification
