Communication Technician (MineStar) | Ongoing Contract
A major owner-operator in the Bowen Basin is seeking an experienced Communication Technician for an ongoing contract role supporting autonomous and fleet management systems across active mining operations.
This is a site-based position working within a high-performing technical team, focused on maintaining and optimising critical communications infrastructure that underpins MineStar and associated operational technologies.
The Role
You will support installation, maintenance and fault-finding across site communications systems that enable fleet management, machine guidance and autonomous functionality.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission and maintain MineStar communication hardware
- Support wireless networks including Wi-Fi, LTE, mesh and point-to-point systems
- Maintain and troubleshoot network infrastructure (switches, routers, fibre, radios)
- Diagnose and resolve communication faults impacting fleet performance
- Work closely with operations and dispatch teams to minimise downtime
- Maintain documentation, configuration control and asset registers
- Ensure compliance with site safety and statutory requirements
About You
- Experience supporting MineStar systems in a mining environment
- Strong knowledge of wireless networks, RF systems and fibre infrastructure
- Experience with network hardware (Cisco, Rajant or similar)
- Demonstrated fault-finding capability in heavy industrial environments
- Able to work autonomously within a structured safety framework
