Data Engineer

Role Overview

Alchemy Recruitment is partnering with a utilities provider to recruit an experienced Data Engineer to support enterprise-wide data and analytics initiatives.

This role sits within a central Digital & Information function and focuses on building, maintaining, and supporting data ingestion pipelines and Enterprise Data Warehouse solutions. You’ll work closely with analytics teams and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, high-quality data for reporting, insights, and decision-making.

We’re seeking a Data Engineer who will:

  • Design, develop, and maintain data ingestion and ETL pipelines into an Enterprise Data Warehouse
  • Ingest, transform, and model data from multiple source systems across cloud and on-prem environments
  • Support enterprise data platforms by providing ITIL Level 2 operational support for data pipelines and EDW solutions
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, security, accessibility, and ethical handling across assigned datasets
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of data engineering platforms, tools, and processes
  • Develop and maintain physical and logical data models to support analytics and business intelligence needs
  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to translate data requirements into scalable solutions
  • Support DevOps practices, automation, and data integration tooling
  • Contribute to a collaborative, agile, and digitally focused team culture

To be successful, you will have

  • 3–6 years’ experience as a Data Engineer working in enterprise environments
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Azure data platforms (e.g. Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, Synapse / SQL)
  • Proven experience developing and supporting ETL / ELT pipelines and data ingestion processes
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, database design, and data modelling
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with large, complex datasets
  • Experience supporting production data platforms and resolving data incidents
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver practical data solutions
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Business, or equivalent experience
