Alchemy Recruitment is seeking an experienced Environmental Officer to join a well-established mining operation in Central Queensland.
About the Role:
Join a dynamic mining operation and take a lead role in driving environmental performance and ensuring regulatory compliance. You will maintain the Environmental Management System, carry out audits, and support training and investigations. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting environmental audits and inspections to ensure compliance.
- Reporting and managing environmental incidents promptly.
- Preparing accurate statutory and internal environmental reports.
- Providing guidance and training on environmental procedures.
- Overseeing waste management and promoting sustainable practices.
- Collaborating with site teams to encourage environmental awareness.
- Ensuring adherence to relevant legislation and internal systems (SHMS & EMS).
Required Skills & Experience:
- Degree or tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ practical experience in an environmental role on an operational mine site.
- In-depth understanding of key environmental legislation, including the Environmental Protection Act 1994 and EPBC Act 1999.
- Proven skills in risk management and environmental investigations (G1, G2, G8, G9 – current within 5 years).
- Knowledge of workplace processes and HSE systems.
- Competent in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Strong verbal and written communication, with experience collaborating effectively with stakeholders.
- Current Queensland C-Class Driver Licence.
