The Opportunity
 
Alchemy Recruitment are partnering with a leading civil contractor to appoint an experienced Lead Surveyor to take ownership of survey operations across multiple civil construction projects. This is a senior leadership role where you’ll drive accuracy, efficiency, and performance while mentoring a high-performing team, reporting to the Survey Manager. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced project environment and enjoys mentoring teams while driving technical excellence. You will play a critical role in delivering infrastructure and land development projects, working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and senior stakeholders.
 
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate survey activities across multiple projects
  • Manage and oversee survey subcontractors and deliverables
  • Ensure accuracy of survey data, models, and QA/QC processes
  • Provide technical expertise across GNSS, machine control, and survey systems
  • Collaborate with project teams to align survey with program and budget
  • Mentor and develop Surveyors, Technicians, and Trainees
  • Support tenders, planning, and project delivery outcomes
  • Drive continuous improvement across survey operations and systems

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience in civil construction surveying
  • Strong leadership experience managing teams across multiple projects
  • Advanced technical capability in GNSS, total stations & machine control
  • Proven experience with QA/QC, as-builts, and survey data workflows
  • Proficient in 12d, Trimble Business Centre (TBC), AutoCAD
  • Providing technical guidance on survey methods, data, and systems
  • Experience in supporting tenders, planning, and continuous improvement initiatives
