Alchemy Recruitment is currently working alongside a successful natural energy resource provider who is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to assist them at their open cut coal mine in the Northern Territory.

• Structural Integrity Project Engineer 
• Electrical (HV) Project Engineer
• SMP/Mech Project Engineer 

DUTIES REQUIRED IN THIS ROLE:

• Plan, coordinate and prepare project deliverables required to initiate, develop and execute assigned projects related to surface infrastructure
• Manage the design process and oversee external stakeholders
• Design through to execution of structural projects related to general mine infrastructure
• Technically challenge the Engineering Consultant(s) to ensure lean, fit for purpose and safe engineering solutions without jeopardizing project progress
• Identification and standardisation of the appropriate engineering standards for the program scope to drive lean, fit for purpose and safe design
• Managing Internal engineering documents
• Work with key stakeholders to achieve project deliverables
• Identification of improvement initiatives to increase capital efficiency, productivity, and safety
• Safety in Design (SiD) processes management
• Organisation and management of technical governance and assurance processes;
• Management of engineering processes

EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in project delivery within a brownfield mining environment or heavy industry (i.e oil & gas, rail, power utilities etc.
• Tertiary qualification in a engineering discipline (ie. Mechanical, Electrical or Structural)
• CPEng qualification
• Previous experience working on detailed design (ideal)
• Significant design experience and knowledge of structural integrity OR mech/SMP OR electrical design processes and relevant standards
• Background in hard rock mining specifically zinc-lead (ideal) 
• The ability to manage the engineering design process and prepare project deliverables including; scope of work, specifications, execution plans, cost estimates and schedule.
• Ability to critically review designs and work collaboratively with external consultants
• Construction and commissioning experience is highly regarded
• Experience in or familiarity with project/contractor management systems will be advantageous
• Previous experience working in a matrix functional organization is highly desirable.
• Effective stakeholder engagement and communication skills will be critical to success
• Strong focus on safety

This is an ongoing contract position that will be based in the Northern Territory with a leading mining giant. There is a generous hourly rate along, excellent camp and office facilities and work with a close knit team. Travel included from Darwin. FIFO to Darwin from any major airport at own expenses (only 11-12 times a year due to roster rotation). This is a great option when you are only required to work half the year and still take home an excellent take home package (providing the ultimate work-life balance).
