Alchemy Recruitment is currently working alongside a successful natural energy resource provider who is seeking an experienced Mechanical/Civil Project Engineer/Manager in the Mackay Coal Fields.

DUTIES REQUIRED IN THIS ROLE:
- Design through to execution of mechanical and civil projects related to general mine infrastructure
- Technically challenge the Engineering Consultant(s) to ensure lean, fit-for-purpose and safe engineering solutions without jeopardizing project progress
- Identification and standardisation of the appropriate engineering standards for the program scope to drive lean, fit-for-purpose and safe design
- Manage internal engineering documents and governance processes
- Work with key stakeholders to achieve project deliverables
- Identify and implement improvement initiatives to increase capital efficiency, productivity, and safety
- Manage Safety in Design (SiD) processes
- Provide oversight of engineering and contractor performance
EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience delivering mechanical and/or civil projects in a brownfield open cut coal mining environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, or Project Management qualification
- Strong focus on safety
- Previous experience with mine infrastructure projects (mechanical, civil, and water systems)
- Background in dam works, water management, or mine-affected water projects advantageous
- Ability to manage design processes and prepare project deliverables including scopes of work, specifications, execution plans, cost estimates and schedules
- Strong contractor management skills
- Familiarity with project/contractor management systems advantageous
- Experience in a matrix functional organisation desirable
- Effective stakeholder engagement and communication skills essential
IN RETURN, YOU CAN EXPECT:
This is an ongoing contract with a global mining leader, delivering projects from concept through to handover. The role is based in the Mackay Coal Fields with some Brisbane office periods and offers a generous hourly rate. You’ll work a Monday to Friday roster with the flexibility of working from home every Friday. Travel options include DIDO or FIFO, with camp accommodation and meals provided. Reporting to the Portfolio Lead, you will be part of a capital project team responsible for delivering multiple small projects (under USD $20M) while also assisting on larger-scale initiatives.
