Electrical Project Manager – HV/LV Infrastructure

An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Electrical Project Manager to take ownership of a significant HV and LV electrical infrastructure remediation and upgrade program at a major Queensland mining operation.
This is a long-term engagement within an established Engineering Projects team, managing a multi-year capital program focused on improving the safety, reliability and compliance of critical electrical infrastructure.
With several scopes currently at concept and pre-feasibility stage, you’ll have the opportunity to get involved early, shape the delivery strategy and take projects through design, procurement and execution to commissioning and handover.
The Role
You’ll lead the delivery of HV and LV infrastructure upgrades across fixed plant and associated mining infrastructure.
Responsibilities will include:
- Lead HV/LV infrastructure projects from design through to commissioning
- Manage replacement of ageing and obsolete HV switchgear, LV MCCs and distribution boards
- Develop and manage project scope, schedules, budgets and resources
- Manage multidisciplinary contractors, OEMs and specialist consultants
- Coordinate outages and access with operations, maintenance and engineering teams
- Manage electrical safety, compliance and project risk
- Develop contingency and temporary power strategies to maintain production continuity
- Manage procurement of long-lead and custom-manufactured electrical equipment
- Provide project reporting and engage with senior stakeholders
- Oversee testing, commissioning and operational handover
- Manage QA documentation, manuals, training and project close-out
- Develop and prioritise future stages of the capital program
About You
To be successful, you’ll ideally bring:
- Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering
- 3+ years’ project management experience within mining, construction or heavy industry
- Demonstrated delivery experience across HV and LV electrical infrastructure
- Strong knowledge of HV switchgear, LV MCCs and electrical distribution systems
- Understanding of relevant electrical standards, including AS/NZS 61439
- Strong contractor and stakeholder management capability
- Experience managing project scope, cost, schedule and risk
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Queensland mining certifications, or the ability to obtain them
Experience with CHPP/fixed plant infrastructure, electrical asset lifecycle management, major outages, temporary power or generator solutions will be highly regarded.

Roster
The preferred arrangement is Monday to Thursday onsite with Friday from your home office, however flexibility can be considered depending on the individual and project requirements.
Alternative arrangements, including variations around onsite/WFH rotations, can be discussed.
