Superintendent Projects | Mining Operations
A large-scale mining operation is seeking an experienced Superintendent Projects to lead the planning and delivery of a capital projects portfolio across a complex processing and mining operation.
This is a senior leadership role accountable for project execution, governance, contractor performance and the development of a high-performing projects team delivering value across site operations.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager Projects, you will lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for delivering capital works safely, efficiently and in line with budget, schedule and business priorities.
The role requires strong leadership capability, commercial acumen and proven experience managing multiple project scopes in a mining or heavy industrial environment.
This is a residential or FIFO opportunity operating on a 9 days on / 5 days off roster, offering long-term career progression within a major mining business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead delivery of site capital projects portfolio from planning through execution and handover
- Manage project controls including cost, schedule, risk and change management
- Oversee procurement, contractor performance and contract milestones
- Ensure document control systems are maintained and project records are compliant
- Lead operational readiness activities for capital projects
- Deliver weekly and monthly project reporting to leadership teams
- Manage budgets, forecasting and financial performance of the projects function
- Lead, coach and develop Project Engineers and support personnel
- Drive continuous improvement across systems, processes and delivery standards
- Promote strong safety leadership and compliance across all project activities
About You
You are a senior project leader with strong technical capability and a proven record delivering capital works within mining or heavy industrial environments. You bring commercial awareness, disciplined governance practices and the ability to lead teams through complexity.
Essential Requirements
- Degree qualified in Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years’ experience in project engineering, project management or project controls within mining
- Strong understanding of capital project phases, governance and tollgates
- Thorough knowledge of project controls including cost, schedule, risk and change management
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams to deliver business outcomes
- Sound knowledge of safety systems, contractor management and legislative requirements
- Proven ability to build and develop high-performing teams
