Psychosocial Risk & Assurance Specialist (Human Resources)

About the Role
Alchemy Recruitment is partnering with a local government client to support them in recruiting for an experienced Psychosocial Risk & Assurance Specialist on a 10-month contract, with the possibility of extension. This role sits within the organisation’s Health, Safety and Wellbeing program and leads the development and continuous improvement of its psychosocial health and safety framework. It provides specialist advice, governance oversight and capability development across a large and diverse workforce.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the psychosocial risk management framework, policies, procedures and supporting tools
  • Facilitate organisational and workgroup psychosocial risk assessments, and support leaders to implement effective and sustainable controls
  • Provide specialist advice on psychosocial hazards, organisational design, leadership behaviours and change initiatives to minimise risk exposure
  • Analyse injury management, workers compensation, engagement, absenteeism, turnover and complaint data to identify emerging risks and recommend preventative actions
  • Develop governance mechanisms, reporting frameworks and assurance activities, and prepare reports and briefings for leadership teams and committees
  • Provide trauma-informed guidance following significant psychosocial incidents, supporting leaders with interventions, referral pathways and risk controls
  • Lead and coordinate psychosocial safety projects, including implementation planning, stakeholder coordination and benefits tracking
  • Develop and deliver training and coaching to build leader capability, working collaboratively with staff, unions, Health and Safety Representatives and external providers

About You

  • Demonstrated experience identifying, assessing and controlling psychosocial hazards within complex organisations
  • Sound knowledge of the WHS Act 2011, the associated regulations and the Managing the Risk of Psychosocial Hazards at Work Code of Practice 2022
  • Experience developing and implementing psychological health and safety frameworks, strategies or programs
  • Strong data analysis skills, and high-level written communication for reports, executive briefings and policy documentation
  • Proven ability to influence, coach and facilitate across all levels of an organisation in a politically sensitive environment
  • Degree qualification in WHS, psychology, organisational psychology, HR, organisational development, risk management or a related field, and/or substantial relevant experience
  • Qualifications in change management, facilitation, leadership development or workplace investigations highly regarded
  • Current C class driver’s licence (essential)
