About the Opportunity
We are recruiting a Safety Specialist for an established open-cut coal operation in Queensland’s Bowen Basin. Reporting to the Health & Safety Superintendent, you will provide direction to the site Health and Safety team and oversee compliance with the Safety and Health Management System and the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act and Regulation. This is a 12-month fixed term, full-time role.
About the Role
- Lead ICAM investigations, incident investigations and corrective action tracking.
- Facilitate risk management and risk assessment processes.
- Coordinate injury management, rehabilitation and return to work, liaising with medical professionals and service providers.
- Ensure site compliance with the SHMS and statutory obligations.
- Develop standards, procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the site H&S team and assist with planning and operational budgets.
About You
- Qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety or Occupational Hygiene.
- Previous experience in a Health & Safety role.
- Demonstrated experience leading ICAM investigations.
- Experience with injury management, workplace rehabilitation and RTW programs.
- Strong knowledge of mine site H&S requirements and the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act and Regulation.
- Proactive leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Resources or mining industry experience is advantageous but not essential.
